We World-GVC is a part of a consortium of INGOs (namely VSF Suisse Kenya,AMREF, E4IMPACT, SOMIRENEC, WW GVC) that has been awarded a 4 years’ grant by the European Union on building Drought Resilience in Isiolo County through sustainable livelihoods.
Building Drought Resilience Through Sustainable Livelihoods is a comprehensive 48-month project whose major objective is to contribute towards increased resilience to droughts and other negative impact of climate change for vulnerable groups and reduce the number of children under 5 years who are stunted in Isiolo County by enhancing Food and Nutrition Security (FNS) for vulnerable Pastoralist and Agro-pastoralist Communities in Isiolo County, generating Sustainable livelihoods, protecting productive assets and improving climate smart County service delivery.
In this project, We World-GVC main areas of focus are improved nutrition, food security and food production; Enhancing food crop production; Promoting sustainable water supply; Elimination of defecation in the open through promoting Community Led Total Sanitation methodology; Promoting food security and improving nutrition indicators through a multi-sectoral approach. We World GVC is supporting the County Government of Isiolo to implement high-impact nutrition interventions with a specific focus on improving Maternal and Child Nutrition Programme interventions through the Strengthening of established Community Units on High Impact Nutrition interventions (HiNi) in target areas.
On behalf of the DRIC project, We World is planned and hosted a 2-day meeting to support the Establishment and strengthening of an Isiolo county NIPFN Platform. The DRIC project is collaborating with KNBS since The Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) and the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) are the two State Corporations mandated by the Government of Kenya to implement the project. The Kenyan NIPFN is part of a larger initiative of members of the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) movement in Kenya. We World will facilitate officers from KNBS to facilitate 2 day meeting to discuss plans to ensure the full establishment of Isiolo County NIPFN platform and discuss subsequent planned activities
